Telecommunication Business Law

Technical Standard Conformity Certification and
Construction Design (Type) Certification for Terminal Equipment

Certification under Telecommunication Business Law can be granted for each individual unit of terminal equipment or for Construction Design (Type) of the terminal equipment. In either case the terminal equipment must conform with the Technical Standards specified by an Ordinance of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications.

As a regulation all Terminal Equipment Classifications, whose use requires connecting to a network, must undergo a connectivity inspection by a telecommunication carrier to verify conformity of Technical Standards with the Telecommunications Business Law. However, equipment bearing a Technical Conformity Mark　as issued by a Registered Certification Body, shall be exempt from a verification of conformity inspection.

  • Terminal equipment to be connected to analog telephone lines or mobile telephone lines
    e.g. Corded telephone, Facsimile and office phone etc.
  • Wireless paging equipment
    e.g. Communication system for mobile phone etc.
  • ISDN terminal equipment
    e.g. G4, Facsimile etc.
  • Leased line or digital data transmission terminal equipment
  • Terminal equipment to be coneected to internet protocol telephone lines
  • Terminal equipment to be connected to internet protocol telephone lines
Terminal equipment for Technical Requirements Compliance
  • Terminal equipment to be connected to mobile telephone lines
    e.g. Satellite mobile phone etc.
  • Terminal equipment to be connected to leased lines
